Let's Create Memories Together.
Pakistani Wedding
Sonia and Hassam’s Pakistani Wedding was, as most South Asian wedding celebrations are, a colorful and joyful celebration full of mixed emotions! Sonia’s Mehndi took place at the beautiful and intimate Lounsbury House in Ridgefield, CT, where Sonia herself got there early and on hands and knees, along with other family members, had a hand in setting everything up and making it all the more personal! Sonia is a makeup artist herself, so she was all about getting all the details and the hair and makeup, all done by herself. I absolutely love it when brides add these personal touches to their wedding and incorporate pieces that are meaningful to them! In typical Pakistani Wedding style, her mehndi was full of colorful outfits, beautiful jewelry, and belly dancers to entertain the guests late into the evening! The Pakistani wedding tradition of Mayun Ubtan, where the bride receives gifts from the groom’s family and a special paste called Ubtan painted onto her hands was also super fun to witness and capture as it was so different for me, and I loved observing it with fresh eyes! If you’re interested in seeing how this Pakistani wedding evolved into an even bigger celebration with more South Asian and Pakistani traditions (so much fun!) like the groom’s baraat and the emotional Rukhsati, check out their next day wedding at the Tappan Hill Manor!
